Arguments For Measure B |
For years the Laguna Salada School District which includes all of
Pacifica and parts of San Bruno has been at odds with the San
Bruno parts of our school district about whether or not they
should join the San Bruno School District. In the past annexation
attempts have failed because they have been too costly to Laguna
Salada and Jefferson School Districts. However, parents in the
San Bruno faction of Laguna Salada have remained unhappy and
continue to express their interests in affiliation with the San
Bruno School District.
Several years ago the board of Laguna Salada decided it was time to end these years of controversy as we needed to make long range property plans for our district and could not without the issue of annexation being resolved. The annexation plan which is before the voters is a result of intense and fruitful negotiations with the San Bruno School District and Laguna Salada over the disputed area of Laguna Salada which is located in San Bruno. Additionally, both Jefferson and San Mateo School Boards agreed to support the annexation effort. This plan would finally join all parts of San Bruno into one school district, but would be done in such a way that minimizes the negative effects on the finances and middle school program of Laguna Salada. I encourage you to vote for this annexation plan.
