Political Philosophy for Rodney M BrooksCandidate for |
I am committed to public education as the cornerstone of democracy. Even if parents choose to send their children to private schools, all of us have an investment in public education. All of us want the children in the PVUSD to grow up and become productive members of society. I regard myself as a social progressive and a fiscal conservative. Many times change is desirable, but one has to keep an eye on the budget and make sure the numbers work. One of the pleasures of business ownership is you can try new approaches and stratgies any time you want. One of the responsibilities is to make sure you can make payroll and keep a roof over your head. I believe in the value of hard work. It's nice if you are smart or have special gifts, but hard work and determination are more important than natural talent. Talented people too often take their gifts for granted while people with great amounts of desire achieve great success because they want it more. I believe all of our children can achieve the future they want if we can light a fire under them. If they have the belief their hard work will lead to success, we will have achieved our goal as parents and educators. I believe that goal should be to give the children the tools they need to seek the careers they want. |
