Our Most Important WorkBy Julie KennedyCandidate for Governing Board Member; Mill Valley School District | |

There is no more important work today than creating the best possible educational environment for our children. That has been my purpose throughout my first term on the Mill Valley School District Board, and I believe we have made great progress toward that goal. While test scores are not a definitive measure of our success, they do illustrate what happens when a Board and Superintendent work together with dedication and purpose, and our children's test scores have shown improvement yearly over that time, and Mill Valley's students are now among the highest-scoring in California.
Over the past four years we have renovated all five district schools, and all five have been cited as California Distinguished Schools -- that's the product of a lot of hard work by a lot of remarkable people. I'm very proud to be able to work with these dedicated educators and ask that you give me the support I must have to continue. We need to stay vigilant on budgetary matters, bring the reopening of Strawberry Point School to fruition, tackle tough problems such as funding for special education. We're pleased with the successes of our children and gratified by the awards and recognition our schools have received, but we're determined to do even better. With your help, we will. |
