PHILOSOPHY

During my current term, I have fostered an atmosphere of civility in conducting city business and pride in our city. Because of my commitment to the citizens of Novato and my affection for the town, I want to ensure that we continue to have the quality of life we all deserve. My message in 1995 was one of optimism- "If we all work together, there is no end to the good things that can be accomplished." That is still true. We have proved that by combining many viewpoints we can protect our environment, our economy and our social vitality.

Novato is now recognized as the first class city I always knew it was. But there's more to be done. I will continue to encourage a spirit of optimism and cooperation. I will bring together public and private resources to complete planned projects and I will work on remaining issues, like traffic improvements for local streets and Highway 101.

My vision for Novato's future is that it will still have its treasured small town atmosphere. It will have a revitalized downtown, a healthy economy, beautified streets, local jitney service to shopping, commuter trains and North Bay Ferries, protected environmental assets with an expanded trail system, top quality schools, and it will be an even greater place to live and work than it is now.
