I firmly believe that local government is the most effective and responsive political body to serve the needs and wishes of its citizens. For many years local governmental entities were funded solely from property taxes. For the past several years, the State has assumed control of property taxes and is currently considering a ballot measure for the year 2000 on how to finance special districts. With the loss of financial control, we also lose a degree of independence in our ability to serve our residents. Keep informed and let your State representatives know how you feel.
