Information about Javan Reid.Javan Reid believes in campaign finance reform You may see Javan on TV speaking out as a community leader, but you won't see him in a paid TV ad. Those can cost hundreds of dollars per minute! Javan is determined to run a low-cost campaign--no more than $50 from each supporter--no more than $2000 from all of his supporters together. "There are so many more important places to spend the money we have, like supporting community organizations and on recreation for all our families." Javan is skilled in communication and mediation He knows how to bring out the best in people--other Board officers, staff, members of the community--to help them work together. "If we talk honestly and listen respectfully, we'll come out with something far better together than any one of us could ever develop in isolation." Javan has experience During his 14 years in McKinleyville, he's served on the MCSD Recreation Advisory Committee, the McKinleyvile Area Fund, the McKinleyville Land Trust, Humboldt Roundtable on Liviable Communities, Humboldt Habitat for Humanity, and Clergy for Common Ground(a group formed at the request of the Board of Supervisors). "I have been working with McKinleyville area organizations since 1985 to make our community more sustainable, secure and livable." "I will ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability for all community projects and public fund expenditures. Recreation and education are among my top priorities. My focus will be on developing a long-term plan that will assure stability in the service system and stability in rates. I will respond to District constituents in an open and honest way. As your representative on the McKinleyville Community Services District Board, I will work to develop an atmosphere in which everyone's contributions are affirmed as we build a stronger community together." |
