Trinidad, District Expenses and Auditor
One of the most important resources of the Fifth District is Trinidad, which draws many tourists to our area, is a mecca for boaters, sport and commercial fishermen, surfers, and serves many other recreational and scientific interests. The Harbor District has not taken steps to ensure continuous public access and use of Trinidad harbor. If the Sultan of Brunei or a dot com billionaire acquires ownership, and converts it to a private yacht basin or club, the public can be excluded and tourists traffic will diminish along with related jobs and businesses.

The Harbor District pays a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. and the District's CEO and Commissioners take week-long trips to Washington, D.C., the benefits of which should be proven.

The Grand Jury has reported the District had followed a practice to replace auditors every three years, but has not been following that practice. I believe the former practice is preferred.
