Widen the Perspective of the Council - Not Our Roads/Traffic Management Plan For Moraga Road CorridorBy Thomas G. Del BeccaroCandidate for Council Member; City of Lafayette | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The solution to Lafayette's traffic congestion lies with improved traffic management not the widening of Lafayette's main roads.Did you know that the Council has voted to increase Mt. Diablo Blvd. at Oak Hill Road to 8 Lanes? Did you know that 82% of the traffic on Moraga Road is not from Lafayette? Did you know that the City can afford to fund traffic enforcement but the Council would rather use the funds for a future City Hall? It is time to reverse those policies and to stop the widening of our roads. Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Moraga Roads, are at full capacity. Any further attempt to increase the capacity of those roads will not work, will further sacrifice what is left of Lafayette's small town character and will further diminish its pedestrian environment. One of the first initiatives I will undertake if elected is to reverse the decision to widen Mt. Diablo Blvd.
