Political Philosophy for Carol J. Dutra-Vernaci

Mayor; City of Union City

I will make the job of mayor my top priority. I will continue to attend events that I am invited to attend. I will show up to meetings and start them on time.

As mayor, I would request that we create a set of operating rules, norms of behavior, for councilmembers, commissioners, and staff members. I have seen these rules for other cities and believe they enhance the political process.

I believe an elected official has the responsibility to listen to all sides of an issue. Then, thru deliberation, a decision must be made that either creates a consensus or seems to meet the wishes of the majority of the people.
