After our education system prepares our children to be effective members in tomorrow's workforce, we have to make certain there will be jobs for our children to have. It is not necessary for our future workforce to be imported in order for the 21st Century's technically challenging work environment to function. The 10th Assembly District is a complex district with an economic base ranging from agriculture to manufacturing to a large governmental workforce. This diversity, along with the growth boom in South Sacramento and San Joaquin mean we must immediately address the issues of planned growth, job creation, housing, schools, and transportation. We need an educated workforce that is ready to compete in the 21st Century's global economy. We need to create well-paying jobs with benefits for California's workforce. We need to support small businesses through loans, tax credits and cutting unnecessary bureaucratic red tape, so that California can continue down the path to economic recovery. We need to assist the working poor by developing a minimum wage that allows our working families to make a decent living and by providing every Californian with quality health care coverage. Finally, we need to create a business-friendly enviromment in California to keep our businesses here and to attract new ones. I have long experience working with small, medium, and large businesses with the goal of expanding economic possibilities. I have worked to create options as private sector companies specializing in defense have shifted emphasis to serve the private sector. I have addressed and resolved numerous issues in our ever-changing workplace setting. I know that a healthy business environment means a healthy job environment and a healthy economy. I have the legislative know-how to immediately begin to accomplish my constituents' business goals. |
