Genetic Engineering: Man-made mutations with unknown results

By Anna Currivan

Candidate for United States Representative; District 14

This information is provided by the candidate
We support mandatory labeling of all genetically engineered foods and a ten-year moratorium on research using in utero gene transfer therapy.
The Natural Law Party is aggressively campaigning and educating on the dangers of Genetically Engineered technologies: a very dangerous tinkering with natural law. Scientists can alter the genetic code of organisms, such as foods and other plants and even animals and even unborn human children. These altered genetic forms are then released into the environment or into the human germ line. The potential for these completely non-native forms to break out of some boundry and to cause unforeseeable problems is a great danger to all of us.

The Natural Law Party strongly supports two measures:

1) Mandatory labeling of all genetically manipulated foods. (60% to 70% of processed foods on the market are genetically engineered, but there is no requirement to inform the consumer.)
2) An immediate moratorim for ten years on any research using in utero gene transfer therapy.
