Political Philosophy for Earl Joseph Testy

Candidate for
Council Member; City of East Palo Alto

I would like to tell you about some of my political heroes; the people who fill me with polemical inspiration and courage: the Hon. Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey Douglass, the Hon. Abraham Lincoln, Sojourner "Isabella" Truth, and the Hon. Robert Smalls.

Captain Smalls(USN), the highest ranking freedman immediately after the Civil War, was elected to the U.S. Congress (So. Carolina) for five terms as a RADICAL REPUBLICAN...And no wonder; here is a sample of his wit while addressing a freedwomen's political rally being held in his district of Parris Island: "Wives...follow your husbands to the polls with a club and dare them to vote any Democratic ticket...Don't service them in bed (if they vote for any Democrat)...Don't marry any who would." ...Now that was a passionate man!

I hope to resume my theme with Frederick Douglass, the greatest American whoever lived...
