leagues promote constructive community gatherings and good neighbors
Every dollar invested by the community into after school activities and non-profit sport leagues is returned ten-fold by the values that extracurricular organizations instill. These organizations are built upon the efforts of volunteers and contribute to community harmony. For instance, in the three years that my children have played for AYSO, our family has met one hundred other active Redwood City families. These leagues promote constructive community gatherings and good neighbors. Benefits to the kids include opportunities to meet new friends and values like sportsmanship and teamwork. It is one of the best ways get people involved in their community with minimal cost and maximum use of volunteers.
