A strong public school system is essential for our community. We need to provide our students a strong academic program in a safe learning environment.I have over 14 years of experience on the Milpitas School Board and served for 5 years as President. I was instrumental in securing the funding from the business community to support passage of a 64.7 million dollar school bond. The bond monies are being utilizied to build a Math/Science wing at Milpitas High School and to modernize all of our elementary and middle schools. Six of our schools received extensive work during the Summer of 1998 and several new multiuse rooms are under construction. I will continue to work with the school district to ensure that the educational opportunities and partnerships are continued and enhanced for all families in Milpitas. I have been responsible for a $50 million school district budget for 14 years. Our school district received one of the highest bond ratings for any public agency (even higher than the State of California) through our fiscal vision and strong community and business support. Partnerships within our community are a vital avenue to ensure a strong educational program and quality of life. I will commit to continuing to seek solutions to benefit all citizens. |
