Ballot Statement

Santa Clara represents the best of both worlds: rich in history, and the heart of the high technology future. As mayor, I have worked to preserve our past and plan our future.

I deal with issues in an open, ethical, and positive way. I conduct meetings in a professional, fair manner. I sponsored Leadership Santa Clara and annual City Hall Open Houses to bring government closer to people.

I fought to create the Fairway Glen Open Space Park, to establish Santa Clara's leadership in building affordable housing, and to preserve historic sites on the Agnews property while providing for housing, retail, and a branch library.

I advocated for our Fire Department's paramedic program, for state and national policies to maintain Santa Clara's low electric rates pending deregulation, and for library and art programs.

In my final term as mayor, I will support expanded services to seniors and youth, allocation of resources to rehabilitate and improve neighborhoods and reduce traffic, and maintain a strong economy to pay for city services.

Santa Clara deserves a respected, hard working, and experienced leader.
