Political Philosophy for Tyrone H. Monroe

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Berryessa Union School District

I want to serve on the school board because I feel parents can offer valuable insight in setting policy for the district. My wife and I are parents of students in the Berryessa Union School District. Two of our children attend Sierramont Middle School, another attends Majestic Way Elementary School, and our youngest will enter kindergarten next year. I have a personal interest in the development of educational programs which will lead to the academic success of all Berryessa students.

I have been involved in the Berryessa community for almost ten years. I am Director of the local National Junior Basketball League and work directly with Berryessa students in grades three through eight. I work in the Berryessa community and am in daily contact with residents of the school district.

In order to have quality education we need excellent teachers and administrators, as well as involved community members, all working together. We need trustees who will place education of children first. We need new leadership for the new century and I feel I could provide that leadership based upon my experiences in the community and at work. Everyone in the community benefits when schools are successful and that will be my focus.
