Political Philosophy for Tonia IzuCandidate for |
As the mother of eight children, Tonia Izu has always had a personal interest the education programs in the Berryessa Union School District. All of her children attended and graduated from Berryessa schools. Each has excelled academically (Clark, endodontist; Jerry, U.S.U.H.S. Medical School; Kevin, UCLA Dental School; Allyn, Creighton Physical Therapy Doctorate Program; Brent, BYU Pre-Med; Scott, DeAnza; Alisa, BYU; and Alane, PHHS Junior). Along with her husband of thirty-one years, Allen, Tonia has been actively involved in the Berryessa community for many years. They have supported their children in the soccer league, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and music programs. Being Latina, married to an Asian-American, with one daughter-in-law a European-American and the other a Filipina, Tonia has daily first-hand experiences with ethnic diversity. This enables her to be responsive to the needs of our diverse community. As a board member, Tonia has always listened to community members, including parents, as well as the employees in the Berryessa Union School District. She voted for and supports goals in the areas of Student Achievement, Parent Involvement, Leadership, Communication, and Technology. Tonia Izu has consistently voted for programs that place the children first and knows that every child in the Berryessa Union School District can be successful. |
