Judy attended public schools in Denver before receiving a BA in English Lit. from Middlebury College in Vermont and an MA in Guidance & Counseling / Education from Stanford University. She was an Assistant Dean of Students at Stanford for 4 years, and later was Local Program Coordinator for Pepperdine University. After being very active in local school activities, including 2 terms as PTA president, and in a number of community activities, including League of Women Voters (president) and the YWCA Board, she was elected to the Los Altos Elementary School Board in 1977. In 1981 she was elected to the Mtn. View-Los Altos High School Board; she is now serving her 4th term on this Board. She is currently active in the Mountain View Rotary, the Los Altos Community Foundation Board, and the Southern Peninsula Hearing League. Judy has three children: 2 graduates of MVHS and 1 graduate of LAHS. She works at the Career Action Center, a non-profit career management & resources organization.

  • Elected as Director, California School Boards Association (current) - representing all 34 school boards in Santa Clara County.
  • Has served on a number of statewide committees including Teacher Tenure Reform and the Education Legal Alliance.
