I will create a more resident-friendly government, that serves you fresh ideas, while preserving the attractive qualities of the Town.Steve Finn for City Council Town of Los Altos Hills Who Steve Finn Is Preservationist: In 1988, Steve purchased a seven-acre estate to rescue an historic Greek revival home in Los Altos Hills from demolition by developers. One year later, however, the home was destroyed by the Loma Prieta earthquake. To fund the costly renovation, he sold parts of the estate in strict compliance with local ordinances. Though plans for the renovation took one year to get through the Planning commission, today the home - one of the oldest in Los Altos Hills - honorably preserves a local architectural treasure. Los Altos Hills Leader: A sixth-generation Northern Californian, Steve has lived in and served Los Altos Hills community for more than 20 years. Having worked as a volunteer for the Town's Planning Commission, he holds the Town's professional employees in high esteem. He has championed residents' rights to enjoy an expedient and fair government that not only holds fast to tradition, but also looks for ways to improve its service to the community. Business Executive: Steve holds a BS from San Jose State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University, and is founder and CEO of Trust Company of America, which manages $1.5 billion in institutional and individual assets. An accomplished businessman, Steve possesses the strong financial skills needed to steward town budgeting. Where Steve Stands Efficient and Fair Government: Steve fully supports preserving and enforcing the Town's existing building ordinances - the toughest in the County. However, he opposes the arbitrary hurdles and subjective decision-making of an appointed body. He will work to eliminate excessive bureaucracy and see that ordinances are properly upheld by professional staff and elected officials. Stronger Residents' Rights: Decisions that affect the personal interests of local residents are often made by the City Council without the benefit of public input. Steve will use the Internet and other communications tools to ensure that residents have open access to information about the Town actions, and that residents have a voice in creating policies that are fair and equally upheld. Improved Pathway Management: Los Altos Hills has taken great care to retain its rural setting through an intricate system of pathways. But the paths are under-maintained and impose significant burdens on some homeowners. Steve strongly supports along-the-roadside pathways, but believes that donations of property for off-road pathways should be voluntary. Steve will work to improve the system while protecting rights of residents concerned about safety and invasion of privacy. Vote for the Future Steve brings the fresh ideas, energy and business expertise needed for sound governance of Los Altos Hills. While he is forward-thinking in his desire to use the latest technologies to strengthen residents' involvement, he is dedicated to preserving the character and principles that make Los Altos Hills such a desirable community.
