Let me briefly tell you why I am running for Santa Clara County Sheriff.

I am committed to protecting our neighborhoods and fighting high-tech crime, domestic violence, and gang warfare, while at the same time addressing the issues facing our youth.

The San Jose Mayor's gang task force stands as a fine example of a community partnership that has made a difference in diffusing gang problems.

There is a reason why I have the endorsements of high tech leaders like John Morgridge of Cisco Systems.

It is because of my commitment to making Silicon Valley a safer community, both for those that live here and for those that work here.

Silicon Valley businesses must be free to operate without fear of criminals breaking into their businesses in broad daylight. The next Sheriff can play a vital role in protecting our high tech community.

Many of know how hard Supervisor Blanca Alvarado has worked on the issue of domestic violence. I am proud to have Blanca's support.

We have discussed many times what the next Sheriff of this county can do to keep battered victims safe.

As your next Sheriff, it is my vision that no battered victim will be left in an unsafe situation. As Sheriff, I will work with the community to provide shelters for battered women.

Working with the community to find solutions to problems is not new to me. I have spent 30 years working in the community, with dozens of volunteer agencies. I have worked with the Knights of Columbus, HOPE, Kiwaniis, and the Salvation Army to name but a few.

I appreciate your vote in November.
