Arguments For Measure W
Vote yes on Measures W and X to send a clear message that we want to gain control of our future by joining the City of Cupertino. While we, the residents of the "Rancho Pocket" (Barrington Bridge, Loree Estates and Rancho Rinconada), enjoy many of the benefits of our close association with Cupertino such as Cupertino schools, sharing the same police coverage, and a Cupertino address, we are not in Cupertino and have no real voice in Cupertino. Instead, we have only County government to turn to on local issues of zoning, tree cutting, and street repair, to name but a few. By design the County is set up to handle more rural matters, and while this may have worked well when we were surrounded by prune orchards, it is insufficient to handle our now clearly urban needs.

Advantages of Annexation to Cupertino

  • Representative, local government

  • Cupertino zoning standards and direct input into zoning issues such as house size and set backs

  • One stop shopping for local services (No more confusion over whether to call the County, CHP or the City for help)

  • Local traffic enforcement instead of California Highway Patrol coverage.

  • More convenient access to government (close by with evening meetings broadcast live on local cable)

  • Opportunity to participate on local boards, committees

We deserve to have what most other residents of California already enjoy-local, city government. Vote yes on Measures X and W to become part of Cupertino and regain control of our future.
