Laurann Cook was elected to the Fountain Valley City Council in 1986. She was named Mayor Pro Tem in December, 1988, and served as Mayor from March 1989 to December 1990, and in December 1991, Laurann was again named Mayor Pro Tem. On December 1, 1992, she was sworn in for a second term as Mayor of Fountain Valley. Laurann was elected Mayor Pro Tem for a third time on December 3, 1996, and on December 2, 1997, she was elected Mayor. Laurann has a Business Administration Degree from Arizona Western College. Her business experience includes: Assistant Cartographer, U. S. Government, Bureau of Land Management; Executive Assistant, KVOY Radio Station; and Public Relations Executive, New Community Enterprises. Laurann Cook's community and welfare involvement is a life-long commitment. She combines her time and talent for her community. This is evidenced by her volunteer work for the past 24 years. Because of her innovation, concern and drive to help children in need, she has been recognized by community leaders both locally and nationally. Most of her volunteer hours revolve around children's needs and her concern for the welfare of children. Laurann and her husband Richard have two daughters, Allyson and Melinda, and have lived in Fountain Valley for 24 years. |
