Ability To Protect Strawberry's InterestsBy Tirrell B. "Terry" GrahamCandidate for Director; Strawberry Recreation District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Terry Graham, having lived in Marin since 1969, and having 25 years management experience, has the knowledge and personal contacts to effectively resolve issues concerning the Strawberry Recreation District. The Strawberry community is truly special. We are blessed with a unique waterfront setting with urban conveniences and outstanding public recreational facilities. It is important that we maintain Strawberry's sense of community and that we protect our Recreation District. The Strawberry Recreation District is located, not in a city, but in Marin County. (Strawberry's 2,700 registered voters are among the approximately 40,000 registered voters in the county who reside in unincorporated areas. These unincorporated areas represent 28% of Marin County voters.) Because our District is not part of a town, the District Board of Directors has direct control over how all District funds are spent. For example, we recently updated our kitchen and our gymnasium lighting and added a water slide to our pool. Our actions are determined by a majority vote of the Board. No other level of review or approval is required. No other government entity can tell us how to spend the district's revenue or capital. In the next few months, Strawberry will probably be subjected to an annexation attempt. Many of the assertions regarding the possible benefits of annexation are unsubstantiated. It is important that your Board be comprised of strong, independent directors who can distinguish facts from fantasies and who can protect our District's interests. I have the professional skills and contacts necessary to obtain and analyze any required or useful data. I would appreciate your vote. |
