Shall the Board of Supervisors' Resolution of County Service Area No. 27 authorizing an increase in the spending limit to confirm the previous paramedic services tax approved by voters in 1995 which will not exceed: Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year for each living unit be confirmed for an additional four (4) years commencing fiscal year 1999-2000?

If this measure is approved by a majority of the voters, County Service Area No. 27 shall be authorized to increase the spending limit to confirm the previous paramedic services tax approved by voters in 1995 which will not exceed Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year for each living unit for an additional four (4) years commencing fiscal year 1999-2000.

Arguments For Measure M

In 1983 voters in our area overwhelmingly approved entering into a Joint Powers Agreement and approved a special tax to initiate paramedic service. To continue the high standard of emergency medical care for four more years in County Service Area No. 27, which includes Oak Manor, The Greenbrae Boardwalk, San Quentin and some other unincorporated areas in Ross Valley, voters must approve this measure.

Paramedics respond to 911 medical emergencies in a specially equipped ambulance. They are in direct radio contact with emergency room personnel; administer drugs, injections and I.V. fluids; defibrillate cardiac arrest cases, re-establish breathing; utilize many other advanced emergency medical procedures and provide emergency transport to the hospital.

The ceiling is $30 per living unit and would NOT increase as a result of this measure.
