I have the time, energy, insight, knowledge and determination to give my full time to researching the needs and future of Ridgecrest. These are difficult times for Ridgecrest. It is rare when a town quickly loses a third of its job base and then finds it will lose 15% of its tax income next. We must encourage a positive attitide. First, we should appreciate what we have that is outstanding. We have an excellent police department, fire department, hospital, and schools. We have many fine homes at reasonable prices. We smile and say hello to others on the street. What do we need? We need a diversified industry. We can no longer depend on the Naval Air Weapons Station to provide income for the entire town. We all need to support the Economic Development Committee, IWV 2000, the film industry, Chamber of Commerce, any tourism committee, any transporataion group, our local airport, the Planning and Zoning Committee, the business recruiter, and any Senior advocacy group. We need to balance the budget and live in our means. We need to allocate money to construct industrial parks to make it easier for small or large distribution warehouses or manufacturing industries to locate here. We need to assign more staff time to work on nothing but search for new industry for our city. I have lived and worked in Ridgecrest for 21 years. I now have the time, energy, insight, knowledge and determination to give my full attention to research the needs and future of Ridgecrest. A vote for Carol Ericson is a vote for progress. I will make a difference. |
