Political Philosophy for John L. ClericiCandidate for |
I have lived and worked in Placerville for 18 years. I graduated from the University of California with a degree in Resource Management (Forestry). Since then I have pursued several interests including real estate sales, and transportation planning. I am a member of the Placerville Parks and Recreation Commission, and am President of Hangtown Little League. I want to bring my skill, experience, and leadership to the City Council, and help forge a vision for the future of Placerville. I want to provide for greater public input into the creation of this vision, by making citizens feel welcome to discuss their concerns and ideas before the City Council. I feel that the City should be viewed as a valuable resource. The City Council is the body charged with protecting and enhancing that resource. Without a proper appreciation of the historical significance of the City, it's charm and potential, this resource can be irrevocably damaged. The City Council needs someone with a vision turned towards the future, and the discipline to make sure that essential City services continue to be maintained. I believe that I have that Vision. My vision includes the expansion of the local tax base (not raising taxes), while protecting the historical integrity of the town. The City faces a number of basic funding, infrastructural and growth issues. Without a strategy for dealing with these issues, the City will continue to encounter difficulties providing services for it's residents. Without strong leadership Placerville will loose business and employment opportunities to El Dorado County. Placerville is a beautiful place to live. With your support and guidance, I will do what is necessary to provide that our town remains that way in the future. |
