Clean Campaign Pledge

Proposals for how all candidates can conduct a clean campaign, and specifically how my campaign will be conducted

Now that all candidates have completed the Primary campaign and know who their opponent will be in the General Election, is the obvious time to step back for a moment and decide how we wish to conduct ourselves during the next two months. It may be too late to change the tone of the national campaign, but in our state we can still set and adhere to higher standards. Here is how my campaign will be conducted:
1. I have held off on placing campaign signs until after the primary election to reduce visual pollution in our cities.
2. I will personally respect and protect my opponent's campaign signs, and will instruct my campaign workers and fellow party members to do likewise.
3. I will not place negative advertisements in the media.
4. I will not issue any statement or communication whatsoever discussing my opponent's family, children, race, national origin, religion, or sex.
5. I will focus on the issues in all statements, debates, advertisements, and press releases, and I will not issue any that misrepresent, distort, or otherwise falsify the facts.
6. I will at all times be prepared to provide to the media supporting evidence for statements I have made, and will issue a retraction and apology should I find that I have been in error.
I call on my opponent and all other candidates and campaign workers to adopt these policies as well.
