Arizona is far behind in most of the country when it comes to the level of poverty for many of its children and elderly
There is no excuse when it comes to the health and welfare of our children! Conservatives justify penny-pinching on programs that are vital to the health and welfare to the needy children and elderly of our state by saying they are only being fiscally prudent. If one calls a butcher taking out a meat cleaver and not only chopping off the fat but the actual meat of a steak prudent his customers would understandably be angered if they were paying for it. Conservatives have it backwards. They think most Arizonans want the meat cut off their programs when in realty Arizonans only want the fat cut off.
Many Arizona conservatives In Arizona government give huge tax credits and savings not to small businesses (which they would like us to believe) but to huge corporations. There has been so much talk about so called "Welfare Queens" but you hardly ever hear conservatives talk about "Welfare Kings". The amount of credits given out to huge corporations make the programs that help the needy children and needy elderly in our state pale in comparison! You see ladies and gentlemen it is much easier to attack poor defenseless children and old people than it is to attack these huge corporations that gives truckloads of money to many of our conservative friends.
No child should go un-innoculated for any disease or sickness which can be prevented. When our present governor tried to pass a bill which wouldn't even cover all of the children in our state whose parents work but still can't afford medical insurance her own conservative friends (including one of the legislators in this district whom I am running against) acted as if she were some kind of communist or something! And now even though the governor's bill passed there are still many children in Arizona whose parents work(working Poor)but still can't afford medical insurance.
It is time for change! The present sitting legislators in this district are more concerned for the lobbyist (including one who represents a major medical insurance company)who are listed on their campaign finance paperwork (which are listed at the Secretary of State's office and of which I also have copies.) The present sitting legislators are more concerned for outside business interests than they are for the health and welfare of the people who live in this district!
I have personally confronted and debated (since compromise has been attempted and they just don't listen)three-piece suited conservative politicians on the steps to the entrance of the Arizona Legislature and will continue to do so! They do not scare me or cause me to falter for as long as the working class families, the poor, the children, and the elderly are not heard I will to my last dying breath make it so that their voices are heard! Big business and special interest money is green but the voters of this district are human beings and yes we will show that money will not destroy human beings! Human beings have something much more precious than money to inspire them and that is love. Love will tame money, money will not tame Love!
God Bless the citizens of Arizona, the United States and the world.-Leonard A. Clark Candidate for the Arizona House of Representatives District 17.
