Full Biography for Michael CarleyCandidate for Green Party Central Committee; Green Party
|
I moved to San Mateo County in September of 1996 and got involved with the local Green Party in April of 1997. Since the beginning of this year, I have been the Recording Secretary for the San Mateo County Greens. In that capacity, I record the minutes of each meeting and draw up the meeting agenda. To be added to the email list to receive the minutes and agenda, contact me at mcarley@socio.com My political philosophy can be summed up in three words: Liberty, Equality, and Community. I fully support the 10 Key Values of the Green Party and will work for them on the County Council. I am interested in bringing more local Greens into the decision-making process of the Council. Any Green should be able to contribute to direction we take as a local. Specifically, we must do more both locally, and at the state and national levels to bring more working-class and minority Greens in. This should be our first priority for this year. Another priority I would like to work on is the need for proportional representation. Groups like the Northern California Citizens for Proportional Representation and the Center for Voting and Democracy are working hard on this issue. We should work with them and we should set a goal of reforming the election process in at least one San Mateo County city within the next two years. For more information on the San Mateo County Green Party, contact me or your local representative, or check out our web site at http://www.greens.org/california/sanmateo |
