Full Biography for Edward R. Becks

For more than 4 decades, I have been involved in the vital efforts of this community. I continue to be a strong advocate for human rights. Everyone deserves to be represented at the decision-making tables without regard to race, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or disability.

As Executive Director of the Economic Opportunity Commission, I initiated youth development, senior nutrition and community service programs in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park. I have had forty years of extensive administrative and board experience in both the public and nonprofit sectors.

I am currently a member of the Board of Directors of the East Palo Alto Sanitary District. The Board and the Staff have been diligently keeping cost down, providing capital improvements, maintenance and daily operations in difficult economic times.

For the next four years, I will continue to work to: Provide cost effective services to the district. Upgrade the system and infrastructure. Improve environmental controls. Provide capacity for city growth and redevelopment. Develop and adopt a cost-effective capital program to better protect the ratepayers.
