I believe in public eduction, the foundation of our success as the world's leading nation. I believe in optimal education for every child. Despite our hopes, not everyone will qualify for the university, but every child must have the opportunity to try. Parents and teachers as partners will achieve the student's maximum potential.

Blessed with a rich career, every degree, every position prepared me to be County Superintendent of Schools. My administration led the schools out of bankruptcy, has achieved an incredible 1.7% dropout rate and the state's "safest schools" record; the Field Poll found our schools rank #1!
