Professional Experience: Attorney. Solo legal practice. Contract law, family law, real estate, living trusts/wills & probate, civil litigation. Serves as pro tem Settlement Judge for the Marin Courts. Arbitrator for fee dispute cases. Member of Marin County Bar. Instructor on domestic violence for battered women advocates, police departments and service agencies. Instructor, legal clinics format on dissolutions (conducted in Spanish), consumer law, landlord & tenants' rights.

Director, Marin County Bar Association. Former Chair, Administration of Justice Committee. Member, Client Relations Committee.

Director and Treasurer, Marin County Women Lawyers Board. Newsletter Editor.

Faye D'Opal was named Lawyer of the Year, 1995 by the Marin County Bar Association. She received the Wiley W. Manuel Pro Bono Award from the State Bar of California three times.

  • Received Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, 1994, and Certificates from the Governments of Costa Rica and Colombia for Peace Corps work. She also received the Beyond War Award for achievements in the Peace Corps.

Community Activities: Former Director, Legal Aid of Marin; four years as President, Marin Abused Women's Services; three years as President, Marin National Women's Political Caucus; former Director of YWCA of San Francisco, Marin & San Mateo; Triangle Alliance of Marin; Ensemble Theatre Company; Greenbrae Boardwalk Resident Committee.

  • Received County of Marin Human Rights Commission's Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award for outstanding achievement in human and civil rights.

Education: New College of California School of Law, San Francisco, CA. Doctor's in Jurisprudence. (This is the second oldest public interest law school in the country.) Bachelor's Degree from Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas.
