Arguments For Measure F | Arguments Against Measure F |
Approval of this measure authorizes our unincorporated County area to continue to receive emergency fire and medical response from the nearest City of San Rafael Fire Station. Because City Fire Stations are much closer to us than County Fire Stations located in Woodacre and Marin City, we have for many years contracted with the City of San Rafael to provide us with fire and emergency medical services. Approval of this measure does NOT mean that we are taxing ourselves each of the next four years. It only authorizes the collection, on the recommendation of the CSA No. 19 Citizens Advisory Board, of the tax, if there are insufficient funds collected through regular property taxes, to meet our contract costs with the City of San Rafael. For example, in 1996 and 1997, no assessment was necessary. We need the ability to raise funds to protect our homes if the need arises. Measure F is vital to the well-being of our community: Guarantees first response fire protection from the nearest San Rafael fire station. Continues quick preliminary medical response from the nearest San Rafael fire station in the event of a paramedic call. Secures the fire insurance of our community. If Measure F fails, the potential rise in insurance rates could more than offset any potential "savings".
