Shall the Kentfield School District issue bonds to repair electrical, plumbing, and roofing systems; to upgrade and expand the libraries and the computer/technology learning centers; to renovate science, math and other classrooms to carry out the educational programs at Bacich Elementary School and Kent Middle School; and to make other necessary repairs, capital and real property improvements at both schools in an amount not to exceed $13,500,000 at an interest rate not to exceed the legal limit?
The following tax rate information is given to comply with Section 9400 to 9404 of the Elections Code. The best estimate of the tax rates required to be levied to fund the bond issue is based on estimated assessed valuations and prevailing market rates at the time of filing this document. The tax levy rates, expressed as a rate per $100 of assessed valuation, are as follows:
Based on these tax rates, the estimated average annual tax over the life of the bonds would be $.03436 per $100 (or $34.36 per $100,000) of assessed valuation. The above tax rates are estimates based on the best information available as of the filing of this document. Even though the District has made every effort to reasonably account for the factors which affect tax rates, these estimates are not binding on the District. The actual tax rates and years in which such rates are applicable may vary from those presently estimated, due to variations in assessed values and the actual interest rate on the date of sale. The assessed values during the several future years will depend upon the amount of taxable property within the District and the value of that property determined by the assessment and equalization process. The actual interest rates on the bonds will be based on the market tax-exempt rates at the time the bonds are sold.

Arguments For Measure B | Arguments Against Measure B |
Bacich Elementary and Kent Middle Schools are winners of many local and state educational awards. In the last 10 years, our students have scored in the top 1-2% in math and language arts, statewide and in Marin. Families choose to live in Kentfield and Greenbrae for quality schools.
Our community supports our schools and has made them our most valuable community asset. Good schools produce and sustain higher property values. They make our community a more valuable place in which to live and raise children. The district focuses on program basics: best teachers, small classes, parental involvement, curriculum updates. However, physical facilities lag drastically behind program. Both campuses suffer from long term deferred maintenance. Classrooms which have deteriorated drastically since the last bond passed 35 years ago are in desperate need of repair, renovation, expansion, and augmentation. Buildings need new roofs. Winter storms cause extensive damage to materials and interiors. Electrical systems are seriously outdated. Existing wiring is beginning to pose safety questions: many classrooms have only one electrical outlet, hardly adequate to support computers. Heat regularly malfunctions; bathroom fixtures need to be replaced. More classrooms are needed to maintain low class sizes. There is no appropriate facility to house the computer/library learning center at Kent. Science and math rooms are outdated and inadequate. The absence of a multi-purpose room at Bacich diminishes the effectiveness of drama, music, and P.E. as well as school-wide assemblies and performances. Neither school provides a dry, protected area for children to eat lunch on a rainy day. Some classrooms have not been painted for over 20 years. Please support the children with your "yes" vote on Measure B and provide them with a safe and warm learning environment. Vote YES on Measure B!
