San Mateo County Community College District is our best higher education bargain. It's also our county's best-kept secret. The District has not kept pace with our community's changing educational needs. Last year, countywide community college enrollment fell to a 25 year low. We're losing local students to college districts in other counties. In 1996-1997 our district forfeited $1.7 million in enrollment-based funding from Sacramento. As an elected school district trustee, I know how to work with our diverse population. I'll make our community college district accessible, affordable, high quality and relevant to our changing educational needs.
