"Protecting Belmont's Quality of Life"
Pam Rianda

This information is provided by the candidate

I favor sensible, appropriate, low density development and growth. I oppose reckless development. Belmont needs to ease traffic congestion, not compound it. We must preserve quality open space. The City Council must scrutinize each proposal in terms of its impact on our community's quality of life.

I did not support the massive plans for a three to four story development on the corner of Ralston and El Camino. The density of the development was massive. It included retail on floor one, business and professional offices on floor two and residential on floors three and four. This is an example of a project which would have degraded the quality of life in Belmont. It was only after 300 residents joined my voice in opposition that this project now is a two stories. This project is now compatible with our community. It is low density, reasonable and will serve the needs of the Belmont community. If re-elected , I will continue to be the voice protecting the quality of life in Belmont.
