To get City Hall's house in order again, the full Council must demand excellence from City administrators. If the City Council is alert and doing their job, they must hold the administrative team accountable for their actions and recommendations made to the Council. If re-elected, I will continue to oppose rubber stamping dubious proposals. I will continue to insist that the Council analyze each proposal carefully, ask the tough questions, look and ask for alternatives and above all, listen to the public.
Management and completion of major capital improvement projects is critical if the City is to move forward in the next four years. Clear thinking must prevail when evaluating projects. Council can not afford to make any decisions such as the the Ralston Grade Separation. I will continue to speak out as I did in January 1996, warning that you can not build three grade separations for the price of two, that extending a 22 month project into a 70 month project means death to our business community and that it was in the best interest of the Belmont community to complete the bidding process for the Ralston project ( we would be driving under our grade crossing today if the project hadn't been stopped in mid stream).
Belmont needs leaders who will make decisions which are best for the Belmont community...not the best for outside special interests. I will continue to be the voice of leadership needed to shepard the completion of our major projects.
