Occupation: Registered Nurse

Education & Qualifications:

My involvement with the elementary school district began as part of a parent
group that petitioned the district to start a Montessori Program. Today my
concern is for the strength and well-being of the San Mateo-Foster City
Elementary School District, whose health depends on the involvement of its
citizens.

My goal is to guide our K-5 and Middle schools in developing each child's
maximum potential and to raise performance standards and test scores throughout
the District. I want to emphasize reading skills as well as computer skills,
and to restore the important role of music and art programs to the curriculum.
Supervised after-school care is another priority that should be extended to all
children in the District who need this vital service.

I pledge my best efforts to see that the additional state funds and bond funds
that are now coming into our public elementary schools will benefit all our
schools equally both in program enhancement and physical plant improvements.

With community support, we can and must strengthen our children's educational
experience and heighten the achievements and reputation of our public school
system.
