Seven years ago, the City Council approved a destination resort hotel at Ocean Colony as a means of raising up to $1 million in property and sales taxes for our General Fund and for our schools each year, in addition to providing jobs for our residents. The economy at that time soured, prompting lenders to insist that a second golf course be on line before they would fund a hotel project. With the new Ocean Course open, the hotel is now becoming a reality, and the Council must do what we can to assure that the project materializes, while listening to any concerns of those living closest to the hotel.
