Government should be as efficient and user-friendly as possible. Citizens should be encouraged to take part in governmental affairs and know how their tax dollars are being spent. One of the most important jobs facing local-level elected officials today is planning for the future. We must project ourselves into the 21st century and try to ascertain what the emergency, commercial, retail, traffic, recreational and social needs may be and how the plans we make today could effect our city a half-century from now. Technology will certainly change the way we live in dramatic ways within the coming years and we must plan with vision to protect the future while preserving the traditions and hometown quality of life that makes San Carlos unique.
