I grew up on the peninsula, and graduated from Palo Alto High School in 1977. After working on a tugboat in Lousiana in 1978, I returned to Califonia and attended UC Berkeley. I have worked in the Biotech industry ever since.
During my seven years of employment at Genentech, I was responsible for supervising manufacturing operations, with as many as 15 direct reports. I have organized and tracked several lab expansions, worked for seven different biotech companies in different capacities, and am currently engaged in protein purification development and characterization.
In 1991 I bought a 45 year old redwood cottage on Klamath St, where I live with my wife Kim and dog Chester. Last year I replaced the water pipes with copper ones. This year, with the help and guidance of a neighbor, we removed the wood shingles and replaced them with plywood and composite shingles.
I have been through the permit application process as part of my home improvement projects. I have also participated in the revision of the zoning ordinances as a Brisbane planning commissioner since February 1996.
Through my employer, I have acquired used office furniture and computers for the City of Brisbane.
