My motivation for entering this race is to advocate for school children. I have two young daughters in the district's public schools. I also hope to introduce new thinking into the implementation of Measure E and with respect to communication with parents and the public. We promised the public with Measure E that we would fix up the schools, and we need to get to that. We also must be more aggressive in reaching out to communicate with parents and public about what the district is doing. In this district, process is almost as important as substance; how things are decided is almost as important as what is decided. More attention needs to be paid to that principle.
