Lisa Rosenthal

Education & Qualifications:

As trustee of the Burlingame Elementary School District for the past four
years, it has been my privilege to be part of a community that cares about high
standards and quality education. During my term, I have participated in the
policy decision-making process that saw: the adoption of district-wide
standards and assessment in math and language arts, implementation of
class-size reduction, and upgrading of our school facilities. I am proud of
these as well as many other accomplishments of our district. I seek another
term in order to continue to advocate for high standards and quality education
for our children.

In addition to being a trustee, I have served on the board of the San Mateo
County School Boards Association as corresponding secretary (1996-98), Kent
Awards Volunteer Chair (1994-96), Kent Awards Co-Chair (1996-97) and on the
District Advisory Council, the City Liaison Committee and Burlingame Together.

I have two daughters, both graduates of Burlingame schools. One is a freshman
at UC San Diego and the other a freshman at Burlingame High. I graduated from
Brandeis University, B.A., magna cum laude and hold an M.A. in TESL from San
Francisco State. I am currently editor of San Francisco Peninsula Parent
Magazine.

Educacion y Calificaciones:

Como miembro de la junta del Distrito Escolar Elemental de la Ciudad de
Burlingame por los pasados cuatro aöo, ha sido un privilegio ser parte de la
comunidad que se interesa en tener altas normas y excelencia en la educaci÷n. 
Durante mi termino de servicio, he participado en el proceso de hacer
decisiones que tubieron que ver con: la aprobaci÷n en todo el distrito de
normas y evaluaciones en cuanto a la m½tematica, letras y artes, se ha puesto
en marcha un plan de reducir el tamaöo de las clases, y las mejoras de nuestras
instalaciones. Estoy orgulloso de estos y muchos otros logros en nuestro
distrito.  Me postulo para otro termino de servicio para poder continuar
luchando por altas normas y excelencia en la educaci÷n de nuestros niöos.

Aparte de ser un miembro de la Junta, he servido en la Asociaci÷n de Juntas
Educacionales del condado de San Mateo como secretaria de correspondencia
(1996-98), Kent Awards Volunteer chair (1994-96), en el District Advisory
Council, y el Comite de Burlingame Together.

Tengo dos hijas, ambas graduadas de escuelas en Burlingame.  Una es estudiante
de primer aöo en la Universidad San Diego y la otra esta en su primer aöo en la
escuela Burlingame High School.  Me gradþe de la Universidad Brandeis, B.A.,
magna cum laude (diploma de altos mÚritos) y una licenciatura de la Universidad
San Francisco State en TESL.  Al presente soy el redactor de la revista San
Francisco Peninsula Parent Magazine.
