Laurie Hoffman	Age: 40
Occupation: Small Business Owner

Education & Qualifications:

I bring to the Burlingame School Board a long history of involvement with and
for children. With a degree in Child Development and as the parent of four
children, I have a broad picture of what the needs of children are. My 12 years
as a successful small business co-owner has given me experience in budgets and
management. I served on the Burlingame School District Budget Advisory
Committee and on the Lincoln Elementary School Site Council for two years. As
an appointee to the School Board for the last year, I have gained a working
knowledge of what it takes to run a school district.

During the last year, we have implemented class size reduction, passed two
parcel taxes and a bond measure. In the future, I look forward to continuing to
set high standards and effective assessment tools. I support looking at
programs to serve the diverse needs of all our district's children in a
fiscally responsible manner. I believe strongly in the right of all children to
be educated to the maximum of his/her potential.

Traigo a esta Junta Escolar de Burlingame un historial extenso de mi
participation con y para los niöos.  Con mi licenciatura en cuanto al
Desarrollo de la niöez y como madre de cuatro niöos, poseo amplios
conocimientos de cuales son las necesidades de la niöez.  Mis doce aöos como
una prospera co-dueöa de una pequeöa empresa me ha servido de mucha utilidad en
cuantos asuntos administrativos y presupuestos.  He servido en Burlingame
School District Budget Advisory Committee y en el Lincoln Elementary School
Site Council por dos aöos.  Como una persona nombrada por la Junta Escolar por
el pasado aöo, he adquirido buenos conocimientos de lo que se necesita para
administrar un distrito escolar.

Durante el aöo pasado hemos puesto en operaci÷n la reducci÷n de las aulas,
aprobados dos parcelas de impuestos y bonos.  En el futuro, deseo con gran
anticipaci÷n el continuar con las altas normas y mÚtodos efectivos de
asesoramiento.  Apoyo el emprender programas que suplan las diversas
necesidades del distrito de una forma que financieramente haga sentido.  Creo
firmemente en el derecho de todos los niöos en ser educados hasta lo m½ximo de
sus talentos.
