Statement of J. ROBERT FOSTER, Candidate for City Council Member, Short Term Occupation: Attorney Age: 57 Education and Qualifications: I have lived in Morgan Hill for 32 years. I have been extensively involved in community affairs, including serving 12 years on the Morgan Hill School District Board and 4 years on the City Council (Mayor, 1984-85). From 1965 to 1979, I served as Assistant City Attorney. Born in California, I graduated from Willow Glen High School in 1957, San Jose State University in 1961, University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1964. I was California deputy legislative counsel 1964-65. Since 1965 I have belonged to numerous organizations in Morgan Hill, been active in children's sports, service clubs, Boy Scouts, and various committees. Currently I am a member of the Rotary Club, Morgan Hill Historical Society and United Methodist Church. Professionally I am a senior advisor to the Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Section Executive Committee for the California State Bar. Morgan Hill is no longer a small city. The recently completed visioning process indicates the desires of the community. We need cultural and recreational facilities. I support the construction of such facilities in a well-planned manner, but also on a fiscally sound basis. I presently serve as an interim member of the City Council.
