Statement of FRED FOWLER, Candidate for City Council Member, Seat 1 Occupation: Computer Consultant and Programmer Age: 40 Education and Qualifications: I hold a bachelor of arts degree in History (Haverford College, '79), and I am the founder of a computer consulting business in Sunnyvale. My wife and I have lived and worked in the city since 1989. We have both a home ownership and business stake in the future of the city. I have been very active as a public service volunteer in Sunnyvale. I serve as a commissioner on the city's Housing and Human Services Commission. Last fall I was appointed by the Sunnyvale City Council to serve as a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee for Moffett Federal Airfield. I am the president of the Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association, a post I was elected to in 1996. I joined the Sunnyvale Amateur Radio Emergency Service in 1994, which provides auxiliary communications support to the Department of Public Safety, and I have since become a coordinator of auxiliary communications activities for five California counties. Community work is nothing new to me. What qualities will I bring to the job if elected? I will bring energy, enthusiasm, devotion, listening skills, and knowledge. I will bring the same qualities that have made me successful in my business and that have gotten me involved in so many community activities. I hope that you will consider voting for me, Fred Fowler, for City Council seat #1. If you do, I promise to do all I can to keep Sunnyvale the wonderful place to live and work that it is now.
