As we move into the twenty-first century, Deborah Wilder wants to expand City services by taking full advantage of the Internet. Rather than having to call or travel to City Hall, Deborah Wilder wants people to be able to access information, file applications, make appointments, register for recreational facilities, and communicate with both city employees and council members via the Internet. Using this technology, the City will be able to increase its level of services, without increasing costs.
Deborah Wilder also wants to improve City services by working with other entities within Foster City. Often neither a City nor another agency can afford to fund important projects within their communities. Other cities have moved forward with such projects by sharing resources. For example, cities and schools have worked together to improve facilities such as tracks, pools, libraries, Internet access, which benefit both the school and the surrounding community. Deborah Wilder plans to use this concept to improve what is available to Foster City while avoiding the duplication of costs.
