Diane Howard Age: 47 Occupation: Business Manager, Nurse/City Council Member Education & Qualifications: When I was elected to the Redwood City Council in 1994, my priorities were: Improving the quality of life in Redwood City neighborhoods. Developing a stronger economic base using a team approach. Encouraging development of quality housing & community services. Over the past 3 years, my efforts have included: Working with the Pride & Beautification Committee and 100's of volunteers to clean our schools, parks, creeks & marina; planting trees and eliminating trash & graffiti. Working with teams of City officials & neighborhood groups to plan, finance & develop a community center, school and fire station in Redwood Shores. Promoting a City-Business-Community team to re-energize Downtown including the construction of the Main-Middlefield retail/housing project & the development of the UC Berkeley Extension Campus. Working in partnership with the Redwood City School District and the Redwood City/San Mateo County Chamber to upgrade our schools' libraries and computer centers. I am proud of these improvements...But there is still more to do. I will continue meeting with our residents, improving public safety & the quality of life in Redwood City while overseeing a strict budget requiring assessment of priorities and maximization of efficiency. Redwood City Improvements are a Work in Progress. My desire is to continue that work. /s/ Diane Howard
