Dick Curtis Age: 66 Occupation: Retired Education & Qualifications: As City Councilman, I will * promote good communication between city government and city residents, * foster a limited and managed growth of our City, and * be a thoughtful presence in the deliberations of our City Council. Vote for me to get a representative who brings practical experience in making institutions work and who will cooperate with his fellow Council members to make living in Half Moon Bay even better than it is. Since retiring in December, 1994, I have been exploring how Half Moon Bay works. I believe that our government is "of, by and for the people" and that there is no "they;" there is only "us." I was principal author of the HMB 2000 report that recommended steps to improve the financial stability of the City and to restore confidence in our local government. I am currently serving on the Planning Commission. My background is in technology and education. I was a university professor and dean for 13 years until coming to the Bay Area in 1970. Since then I have worked with youth in a residential center, done research on energy efficient buildings, and managed software development. Now I want to focus on preserving the unique qualities of Half Moon Bay. /s/ Richard B. Curtis
