Statement of CATHY KROYMANN, Candidate for Governing Board Member Occupation: Mother and Volunteer Age: 46 Education and Qualifications: Over the next four years, our District will upgrade our school facilities and improve how we teach our children. During these changes, it is critical that our community be represented by people who have demonstrated fiscal responsibility and an understanding of our children's educational needs. As a member of the School Board, I will: * Focus on excellence in the classroom. Preparing all students for higher education and the working world is my top priority. * Effectively manage the budget. Sound budgeting begins by ensuring Measure B school bond funds are spent in accordance with promises made to the voters. * Build community partnerships. Business, senior and community groups offer our schools a wealth of resources. Partnerships will improve technology in our schools and enrich learning for our children. I have proven I can make a difference. For more than a decade, I have worked to improve our schools. I have demonstrated my commitment to students from all parts of the community by working successfully with staff and parent leaders at every school in the District. I have: * Improved education in our schools as an elected member of site councils at elementary school, middle school and high school. * Increased the District's budget accountability by developing a community-wide education program on school finance and the PAUSD budget. * Developed education programs in partnership with business and education leaders and Joint Venture Silicon Valley. * Written our District's leadership performance standards for principals and our teacher evaluation system in collaboration with staff and parents. * Secured funding to upgrade our District's outdated school buildings as a leader of the campaign effort in support of Measure B. I am prepared to serve on the school board. I have spent years working in our community and understand the contributions everyone can make to our schools. My experience includes: Current President, Association for Senior Day Health Current member, Challenge 2000 Steering Committee, PAUSD partnership with Joint Venture Silicon Valley Current member, Joint Advisory Committee for Evaluation Procedures, PAUSD Current member, Advisory Board, Adolescent Counseling Services President, Palo Alto Council of Parent Teacher Associations, 1994-96 Facilitator, Jordan Middle School Site Council, 1995-96 As a parent of two students in the District, I know our schools have a deserved reputation for excellence.
